Call for papers
First Announcement
We are pleased to announce that the Seventeenth Workshop on Cantonese (WOC-17) will be held at the Hong Kong Baptist University on Saturday, April 22, 2017. The workshop is jointly organized by the Linguistic Society of Hong Kong, the HKBU Faculty of Arts, and the HKBU Department of English Language and Literature. The theme of this workshop is “The Teaching and Learning of Cantonese as an Additional Language.” Topics may relate to L2-Cantonese learners of any L1 and may include but are not limited to the following aspects related to the teaching of, or learning of, Cantonese:
- Phonology/ tone system
- Morphology/ lexicon
- Syntax/ grammar
- Socio-pragmatic knowledge
- Etc.
Or these pedagogical aspects related to teaching and learning Cantonese:
- Learner motivation
- Learner difficulties
- Teaching methods
- Language policy
- Etc.
Abstracts are invited for 20-minute talks with 10 minutes for discussion. You can give your presentation in Cantonese, English or Mandarin. Abstracts may be written in Chinese or English and should be limited to one A4 page with the name(s) of author(s), affiliation and e-mail address(es). Abstracts in DOC format should be sent to: johncw@hkbu.edu.hk.

Notification of acceptance: March 30, 2017 (via e-mail)
